GETTING TO KNOW your Bosque: West Side

  • Bosque West 1250 Isleta Boulevard Southwest Albuquerque, NM, 87105 United States (map)

Summer Hiking Series Starting Sunday May 17, 2015

Richard and Peggy will lead a hike to explore a restoration site south of Bridge. This was the first bank lowering project, dating back to 1998. They removed a dense thicket of Russian olives and then graded the area down toward the river, so that the ground was closer to the water table. We’ll see what grew back. At the end of the hike, we’ll compare this area with a more developed trail on just North of bridge.

When: 3 - 5pm

Where: Meet at the parking lot of the Westside Community Center, 1250 Isleta Blvd SW. Coming from the east, cross the river at Cesar Chavez/Bridge. Turn south on Isleta and proceed approximately 1.1 miles to the Westside Community Center. We’ll then drive or carpool to the trail entrance at the end of Arenal.

Bring: Good walking shoes, water, hat, sunscreen, binoculars if you want to bird. Long sleeves recommended to protect from scratches and in the unlikely event of bugs.

RSVP: So we'll know what to expect, please let us know if you plan on coming by replying, or contacting:
